Frequently Asked Questions About Adding New Data to EOSDIS

Q: What types of data can be added to EOSDIS?

A: Any data products that have been funded by NASA, whether through airborne or orbital missions, competed programs (grants), or other NASA programs, may be archived within EOSDIS.

Q: What are the costs associated with hosting data in EOSDIS?

A: For any data products that have been funded by NASA (see above) there is no cost to the data provider, PI or otherwise. However, the data provider should plan for costs associated with producing and delivering the documentation, metadata, and formatted data in accordance with EOSDIS requirements.

Q: Does EOSDIS accept data from external (non-NASA funded) sources?

A: NASA does not accept data from non-NASA sources unless the products have been recommended by our science community and NASA has determined that the data align with our mission. For more information about this process, see Ad hoc Requests.

Q: Who do I contact if I have more questions?

A: Please contact us if you have any questions about the processes or requirements involved with hosting your data in EOSDIS.
