In this presentation, NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) provides an overview of the importance of lightning observations and the International Space Station (ISS) Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS). This instrument provides global observations of lightning flashes and is valuable for monitoring both seasonal and long-term trends in lightning activity. During this webinar we will highlight a recent lightning safety project using the ISS LIS in Nepal and Bangladesh. In addition, we will discuss GOES-16 Post Launch Test Field campaign validation data and how these data might be useful for your research or applications.
