Polling with Delivery Record (PDR) Mechanism

Summary

This document establishes the Polling with Delivery Record (PDR) Mechanism as a NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) standard interface mechanism. The PDR mechanism is used for electronic transfer of data and related information. The RFC document provides a brief introduction, with the full PDR specification detailed in Section 4.5 of the Interface Control Document between the EOSDIS Core System (ECS) and NASA's Science Investigator-led Processing Systems (SIPS) Volume 0, Interface Mechanisms.

Status

The PDR for Product Delivery mechanism has been used extensively in NASA data systems. It is an approved standard recommended for use in NASA Earth Science Data Systems.

Specification

Implementations

Goddard Earth Science Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC)—Simple, Scalable, Script-based Science Processor for Measurements (S4PM) includes Perl-based parsers of the PDR mechanism.

NASA EOSDIS Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS) uses the PDR mechanism to ingest imagery from providers.
