False-color (Bands 7-2-1) corrected reflectance image of fires in Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), aboard NASA's Aqua satellite. The false-color image shows the two fires along the coast in red, with strong winds causing the smoke to be blown out far into the ocean.
